Who you are dealing with

The owner is the one driving.

Richard Turner started Turner Yacht Services in 2008 and still runs every job himself: the quote, the route, the straps, the drop. Customers mention the same things over and over. He answers his own phone, he sends pictures from the road, and he checks the boat over before he hands it back.

We move powerboats and sailboats on a hydraulic trailer from our yard on Kent Island, across the Bay Bridge and anywhere on the Chesapeake, then out to Maine, Long Island, Pennsylvania, Virginia and the Carolinas when the job calls for it. We also store boats, shrink wrap them for winter, wash and wax them, and run deliveries by water.

One customer put it this way after a move: “Even the guys at the marina were like ‘who is this guy? He knows his stuff, has a great rig, and is great to work with.’”

He moved my 38' sailboat from Marina to one of my properties and it was a great experience. Communicated the entire time before and during on what was going on and when. Even the guys at the marina were like "who is this guy? He knows his stuff, has a great rig, and is great to work with." That speaks volumes.

Richard made a very stressful situation seamless and EASY! We needed to move our boat from NY to Delaware and from the first communication I knew we were in good hands. He kept in constant contact, sent pictures and was so professional. When bad weather was predicted, Richard adjusted his schedule to make sure he would be able to safely move the boat. He was so easy to reach, personally answered my calls and addressed all of my concerns.

I just had Richard (Turner Yacht Services) deliver my 26' Sea Ray from Hollywood, MD to Occoquan, VA. Richard was great to work with, he kept me posted about times and costs, and most importantly the boat arrived with zero damage and zero drama

There are so many moving parts buying a boat out of state, then having it trailered to your home. Richard took control of dealing with the seller, the marina and everything in the most professional honest way. He told me that he would take care of everything and he did!

Mr. Turner relocated my Monterey 27.5 SY cabin cruiser from Maryland to Hopewell, Virginia. His service was outstanding! The delivery was right on schedule. He took time to go over every inch of my boat to insure no damage was done during transit. He even polished a spot on the gel coat that didn't meet his standard.

If you want to move your boat over a long distance, Turner Yacht Services is a great option. When I need to move my boat between Annapolis and Maine, I became very frustrated dealing with larger companies and franchisees. This family owned local business gave me great service at a reasonable cost.

I have a 38' CC with a 13' beam and 12' rise making this an oversized load. Mr. Turner was extremely knowledgeable and easily answered all of my questions and put my concerns at rest. He coordinated with both marinas and my vessel was moved within a week for an extremely fair price!

Questions

Straight answers.

Turner Yacht Services is an owner-run boat transport, storage and yacht management company on Kent Island, Maryland, serving the Chesapeake Bay region since 2008. Already under contract? Go straight to the transport information form.

How far do you travel?

Our regular range is about 500 miles from Kent Island, which covers the Chesapeake, the Mid-Atlantic and New England. We go farther by the job: boats have gone to Maine, Long Island and South Carolina.

Do you store all types of boats?

Yes. Motor boats to around 50 ft, sailboats, houseboats, work boats and pontoons. Storage is at our yard on Kent Island, for a season, a winter or a few years.

How soon can you schedule me?

Once you’re under contract, usually two to three days out, depending on the season and where the boat is.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The boat’s year, make and model, overall length, beam, height with any arch or tower, and weight, plus the pickup and drop-off addresses and whether the boat is in the water. The transport information form walks you through it.

Can you handle oversize loads?

Yes. Our trailer is hydraulic and we pull the permits. A 38 ft center console with a 13 ft beam and a 12 ft rise moved as an oversize load without a problem.

Do you move sailboats with the mast up?

No. The mast comes down for the road. We can coordinate mast stepping at either end and move the mast with the boat.

How do I get a quote?

Tap “Text for a quote” on this page, or call (443) 665-8251. Have the boat’s dimensions and both addresses handy.
